Seeing the tree climbing lions isn’t the only great experience you’ll get in Ishasha. Being on the border of the national park gives you the privilege to see elephants, hyenas, buffalo and over 1,000 species of birds on your drive here! @ the river is perfect for adventurous travelers and backpackers who want to keep their safari experience on a budget

@ The River Ishasha is a highly affordable eco-camp on the border of the South of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. We offer en-suite cottages, rooms with shared facilities or camping space – all with fabulous views of the Ntungwe River and the Ishasha game park. Our lodge is set on 34 acres of land looking over to the opposite bank where the riverine forest is filled with healthy populations of black and white colobus monkeys, red tail monkeys, baboon and over 1,000 species of birds.

The camp is located 4 km from the main park entrance and 18 km from Kihihi town, where there are fuel stations, shops and a Stanbic Bank with an ATM. Ishasha is one of the few places in the world where whole prides of lions habitually climb trees.

We are also only 57 km from Bwindi National Park where you can see the amazing mountain gorillas. The North of Queen Elizabeth National Park is also filled with other spectacular activities such as chimp trekking, game and bird viewing and and amazing boat ride on the Kazinga Channel.

About 100km before you reach Ishasha, there are two elephant herds to look out for as well as large numbers of buffalo, waterbuck, antelopes and hyena. There are over 1,000 species of birds in the park and we regularly see over seventy species per day from our bar and rooms! If you’re lucky, you can find the infamous shoebill stork within the park.

Our friendly and capable staff are ready to help you with anything to make your stay with us extra special.
